Munich.

Did you know?

Einstein grew up in Munich.

Justus von Liebig was a famous chemist who lived, studied and died in Munich. He was regarded as one of the greatest chemistry teachers of all time because he invented the Laboratory Teaching Method. He is known as the “father of the fertilizer industry” because he discovered the importance of nitrogen as a plant nutrient.

Eduard Buchner was born in Munich.  He was a German chemist and zymologist, awarded with the 1907 Nobel Prize in Chemistry thanks to his work on fermentation.

Ernst Otto Fischer was born in Munich.  He was a German chemist who won the Nobel Prize for pioneering work in the area of organometallic chemistry.

So Munich is quite famous for its clever scientists.  It’s interesting to google “Munich science” and see what comes up on google maps…

Until next time,

Mrs Elliott
